Quick update on hot little items at WOBC.
Yoko Ono's "Yes, I'm a Witch" new release had serious play and attention its first week on the new shelf (March 4th-11th) and continues to be popular. I noticed that track 2 (with Peaches) and track 3 (with Shitake Monkey) had quite a bit of air time. Well, of course. They are super!
I also heard much oooing and awwing about the Young Pony Club EP release, especially "Ice Cream." That was also big the week of March 4th and continues to be popular...I think.
The Good the Bad and the Queen had a reasonably good reception, though, considering the band's history, not quite as good as one might think. My particular favorite song on the album is "Northern Whale." I enjoy how the synthesized bass kind of waddles back and forth in the background while accompanied with melodic backup vocals (wooooohs to be specific).
Of course I can't ignore Air's new release Pocket Symphony. Despite their ambient nature I've heard them on a number of pop shows. Neato! And a few songs really lend themselves well to more traditional pop shows (traditional in the WOBC sense) such as "Napalm love" and "Left Bank."
The Finches are taking off here too! (No pun intended)
Exciting things not yet on our shelves, but in the station:
Messthetics #101 D.I.Y. 78-81 LONDON I and Messthetics #102 D.I.Y. 78-81 LONDON II. Two wonderful punky compilations from hyped2death.com. They are collections of bands from London btwn 78-81 that never made it big, but were great none the less. Check out other hyped2death.com releases ESPECIALLY the SHIVVERS (my personal favorite) as well as Animals and Men and the Instant Automatons.
Adult - "Why Bother"
Gruff Rhys - "Candylion"
I shall continue in future updates.
stay tuned.

I think the time has come to bless this new blog thing as it moves on to the next stage in its potentially long and fruitful existence, and consecrate it with some free Mp3s from Kayrock's lecture last week a.k.a. NYC loft parties circa 2002.

I recently found my favorite sport, Chessboxing. A match of chessboxing is 6 rounds of chess (maximum) and 5 rounds of boxing (maximum). Unfortunately this sport seems to only exist in Europe, for now. Check out the chessboxing championships,

In an article from the MIT website, I have recently found out that the Milky Way (that being the galaxy which we live in) is in fact a bit of an actor, a diva if you will. This occured to me when I was thinking about what a cosmic party our reality is, that it is ever changing and giving us new things every day.
I would like to apply that to this blog, this being my first blog entry. That WOBC is a cosmic party that is ever changing and you all should be enjoying it all the time.
on that note, here is a track from my favorite WOBC related partiers
DAVID COPPERFUCK
PARTY ON WOBC!

This afternoon as I approached the door of Wilder hall to do a radio show I saw something out of the corner of my eye, flapping. I turned around to see a bat bouncing through the air, back and forth. I thought I had bats in my belfry. The allusion is to bats - the erratically flying animals, and 'belfry' is the head. So, 'bats in the belfry' refers to someone who acts as though he has bats careering around in his head. My belfry is fine, there was a bat. Later today I heard that the bat got stuck in between a window pain and a screen and could be heard screeching from the lawn in front of the student union. - Ian
